Anut Cat and Dog Hotel – Policies

Breed & Group Safety Policy

Client-Friendly Summary
  • Bully-type breeds (including pit bull–type dogs) are not accepted once they reach maturity.
  • Puppies of these breeds may attend short-term socialisation trials up to approximately 6 months of age.
  • Continued attendance is not guaranteed; safety and group harmony are our priority.
  • All dogs are monitored continuously, and attendance may be discontinued if behaviours are unsafe.

Purpose: To keep every dog safe, happy, and well-socialised in our group-care environment.

Full Policy

At Anut Cat and Dog Hotel, the safety, wellbeing, and structured social development of every dog is our top priority.

Due to the nature of group play and the physical strength associated with certain breeds, we do not accept bully-type breeds (including pit bull–type breeds and crosses) into our daycare or group environments once they reach maturity.

Puppy Socialisation Trial

Puppies of bully-type breeds may be accepted on a limited, short-term basis for early socialisation, subject to behavioural assessment and social compatibility. This trial period is intended for controlled social development only and is not a guarantee of ongoing daycare placement.

Attendance for bully-type breeds will conclude at approximately six (6) months of age, or earlier if, in the sole discretion of management, the dog’s size, strength, behaviour, or developmental stage is deemed unsuitable for group play.

Ongoing Behavioural Review

All enrolments remain subject to ongoing behavioural assessment. Attendance may be discontinued at any time if a dog’s behaviour is considered unsafe or inappropriate for a structured group environment.

This policy is applied consistently in the interests of maintaining a safe, structured, and controlled environment for all dogs.

Neutering & Reproductive Status Policy

Client-Friendly Summary
  • Puppies under 12 months may attend regardless of neuter status.
  • Intact males over 12 months are assessed individually for safe group play.
  • Neutered dogs still must meet behavioural expectations.
  • Females in heat cannot attend daycare or boarding.
  • Temporary hormone suppression may be discussed in select cases, but is a medical decision.
  • Final decisions on attendance are always at the discretion of management.

Purpose: To support safe, enriching, and structured social experiences for all dogs while respecting breed and developmental needs.

Full Policy

At Anut Cat and Dog Hotel, we recognise that neutering decisions are medical and breed-specific. Current veterinary research indicates that, particularly in medium, large, and giant breeds, delayed neutering may support optimal musculoskeletal development.

Our policies are based primarily on behaviour, safety, and responsible group management — rather than neuter status alone.
